Bristol Zoo Gardens
Case Study II - Bristol Zoo Gardens
  Background
Bristol Zoo Gardens is a 12 acre site in Clifton, Bristol. It’s the fifth oldest zoo in the world and the oldest outside of a capital city, and a long established major tourist attraction in Bristol.

  Requirements
Bristol Zoo Gardens were looking to consolidate their existing legacy applications across separate departments to provide one unified solution that could be accessed and shared by all departments. The new application had to consolidate data and requirements from the following departments:
  • Fundraising and Business Development
  • Membership and Animal Adoptions
  • Events and Group Bookings
  Approach
Chartus Limited were brought in to project manage the final stages of the implementation. This involved managing different 3rd parties that were directly involved in the project.

We implemented a structured and controlled approach to User Acceptance Testing, Integration Testing and Data Conversion to ensure the solution was fully tested and met all the needs of the business users.

Accurate conversion of the legacy system data was key to the success of the project and we ensured that a number of trial conversions were completed before the conversion of the data to the live system.

With the Zoo being a 7 day a week operation, it was crucial that the go-live went smoothly and there was limited downtime. We ensured that the go-live activities were planned hour by hour to ensure the cutover to the live system was as seamless as possible.
